It's
Week 5, the final week of the HP Ink Challenge and Assignment 5. My final conclusion is that although I am Ms. Cheapskate, I believe purchasing new ink is so much less stress knowing that you will have a constant and consistent flow of ink that won't fail you. Refill ink which costs less, is a guessing game as to whether or not your prints come out clean and in color when you absolutely need them to be perfect.
During the setup stage, both printers were easy to load with ink. The only glitch being that the refill ink had an error when loading the refilled ink cartridges. From the start, the refilled cartridges were streaky and although I tried to realign the cartridges and cleaned the nozzles, the streakiness continued during each print. The HP Ink was far superior in quality and consitency.
The HP ColorLok paper improved the print quality on the HP Ink Printer while the quality of the paper could not help improve the prints from the HP Refill Printer.
Over time, the HP Refill Ink continued to lighten and became more streaky. There were no blue hues and everything printed pink and yellow. The HP Ink Printer continued to produce quality prints with no banding or fading.
The distance I need to travel to get refilled cartridges cannot be justified as the quality of the prints produced was extremely poor. HP Ink, although more expensive, can be bought everywhere, even the CVS that I can walk to from my home. Convenient, easy to use and reliability is worth the extra money you pay for new cartridges.
This was a fun Challenge which made me realize that sometimes cheaper isn't always better.
*I received two free HP Deskjet 3510 printers, supplies from HP as well as a gift card to purchase re-filled cartridges in order to participate in the Ink Challenge. All opinions and views expressed are my own.*
